Good lighting and especially natural daylight has a positive impact on our wellbeing, productivity and the the biological cycle that regulates our wake-sleep cycle. Lighting is important to enhance the architecture, provide enough illumination so we can clearly see, read and be able to carry out working tasks that requires good lighting.
Is it only about lighting?
Visual comfort is not only about lighting it is also about how a building is designed to provide nice views to the surrounding landscape. Lighting design should also contribute to make the building energy efficient and sustainable.
It is a matter of creating an indoor environment that is a combination of good air quality, pleasant temperature, good sound environment and good light quality. All these factors have to be balanced and adapted to the needs of people
